ELEHEAR Over-the-counter hearing aids
A company that sells FDA-category OTC hearing aids online for adults with mild to moderate hearing loss, with one of the better independent lab results in the OTC group, a 45-day trial and virtual-only support.

Well tested for the price and easy to trial, but a device for perceived mild to moderate loss only
ELEHEAR sells self-fitting receiver-in-canal hearing aids with Bluetooth, an app, tinnitus sounds and remote audiologist support through elehear.com. Its range runs from the Delight earbud-style aid to the Beyond, the Beyond Pro and the newly launched Beyond 2 Pro.
The evidence is better than for most OTC brands. HearingTracker published a HearAdvisor lab test of the Beyond Pro in October 2025 with an A SoundGrade and a 4.8 out of 5 SoundScore, Wareable reviewed it positively in September 2026, and Trustpilot shows 4.5 from 100 reviews. The limits are real: the FDA says OTC hearing aids are for adults with perceived mild to moderate loss, the lab found a weak own-voice score, fitting is remote and conservative, and the refund and warranty terms carry costs that buyers should read first. We could not find an independent test of the new Beyond 2 Pro.
Right for
- Adults 18 and over who notice mild to moderate difficulty with speech in noise, groups or calls
- Buyers who want a lab-tested OTC aid at roughly $400 to $600 instead of a clinic price
- People comfortable setting up and adjusting hearing aids from a phone app
Wrong for
- Anyone who suspects severe or profound loss, or who has any of the FDA "see a doctor" red flags
- Buyers who want in-person fitting and real-ear verification from an audiologist
- Shoppers outside the United States, because the store ships to US addresses
+What it gets right
- Independent lab evidence. HearingTracker's HearAdvisor lab gave the Beyond Pro an A SoundGrade and a 4.8 out of 5 SoundScore, with speech in quiet rated 4.3 and feedback handling 5.0.
- Reasonable trial. The store offers 45 days to return for a refund, with the company paying return shipping inside the trial, and recommends at least three weeks of use.
- Strong customer ratings. Trustpilot shows 4.5 from 100 reviews, 75% of them five-star, and the Beyond Pro page shows 4.72 from 454 store reviews.
- Useful feature set. Bluetooth 5.3 streaming and calls, an app with tinnitus sounds, up to 20 hours per charge and a charging case with four extra charges.
- Plain return and shipping terms. Free US shipping, dispatch within 48 hours of confirmation and a 24-hour window to report damage are all written down.
−Where it slips
- Remote support only. HearingTracker marked support down for having no in-person service, and said remote adjustments are conservative and lack real-ear verification.
- Weak own-voice score. The lab scored the Beyond Pro 1.2 out of 5 for own voice, and said the supplied closed domes may sound boomy.
- Sound artifacts. HearingTracker noted occasional clicks or abrupt changes in dynamic listening environments.
- Refund is not the full amount paid. The policy says the refund excludes shipping fees, discounts and coupons, applies once per device model and expects the return within 7 days of receiving the label.
- Short warranty with costs. One year, with the buyer paying return shipping and repair costs if no fault is found.
- Moisture rating. HearingTracker lists IPX5, which it calls mediocre, for the Beyond Pro.
Weighted for independent testing, trial terms and the limits of OTC devices
Independent evidence and the trial carry the most weight for a device you cannot try on before ordering. This is a desk-research score: we have not worn or bought ELEHEAR hearing aids ourselves and cannot judge how they fit your hearing.
The long version
What the store sells, what the FDA says about this product category, what testers found and what customers and the return terms say.
What ELEHEAR is
ELEHEAR sells over-the-counter hearing aids directly from elehear.com. The range on the home page on 14 Oct 2026 is the earbud-style Delight, the Beyond, the Beyond Pro and a newly introduced Beyond 2 Pro, plus accessories such as ear domes, wax guards and a dry box. HearingTracker describes the company as relatively new, based in China with U.S. headquarters near Chicago, and says its first product, the Beyond, launched in 2023.

What OTC hearing aids are, and who they are for
Before the brand, the category. The FDA says it established a category of over-the-counter hearing aids for adults 18 years of age and older with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss, effective 17 October 2022. They can be bought in a store or online without a prescription or a fitting by a professional. The FDA also says OTC aids are not for severe or profound loss, because they are limited in maximum output and may not give enough benefit, and that people younger than 18 need a prescription and a doctor.

The FDA page lists "red flag" conditions that call for a doctor, preferably an ear, nose and throat doctor, before buying: fluid, pus or blood from the ear in the past 6 months, ear pain, a lot of ear wax, dizziness or vertigo, a sudden change in hearing in the past 6 months, worse hearing in one ear and ringing in only one ear. It also says that if hearing aids do not help enough, you should ask a hearing healthcare professional. We are not clinicians, and nothing here replaces a hearing test. If you are unsure of your level of loss, a test from an audiologist or hearing aid dispenser is the way to find out.
What independent testers found
The strongest evidence concerns the Beyond Pro. HearingTracker, in a review by Dr Steve Taddei dated 10 October 2025, reports a HearAdvisor lab result: an A SoundGrade and a 4.8 out of 5 SoundScore, with speech in quiet 4.3, speech in noise 3.6, feedback handling 5.0, own voice 1.2 and music streaming 3.8. It says the device sits in the top 5% of OTC devices tested and awarded it an Expert Choice Award for 2025, and its own hands-on score is 4.4 out of 5, with value at 4.7 and professional support at 3.0.

The review is not all praise. It lists sound artifacts such as clicks or abrupt changes, the closed domes that may sound boomy, a larger size than many receiver-in-canal aids, conservative remote adjustments without real-ear verification, no telecoil or Auracast and a mediocre IPX5 water rating. When we opened the page, the verdict box showed 4.2 out of 5 while the review text gave 4.4, so scores on HearingTracker pages are not all the same. HearingTracker earns commissions from links on that page.
Wareable (Laura Juozaponyte, 7 September 2026) liked comfort, call and streaming quality, battery life and control of background noise in crowds, noted an Android tester's app freezing and glasses-fit issues, and listed a shorter warranty as a con. It also repeats that OTC aids are for mild to moderate loss and that pain, dizziness, drainage or a sudden change in hearing should be evaluated professionally. Reviewed (Marc Saltzman, 1 May 2025) tested the earlier Beyond and liked value, battery and the app, but noted large shells, domes that slipped out a few times and AI noise reduction that could be better. Soundly called the Beyond the most well-rounded aid it had tried under $500 in a hands-on video.
We could not find an independent test of the new Beyond 2 Pro, which the store lists at $799. The numbers for it on the store, including its claim of clearer speech, are the brand's own internal comparisons against its previous generation.
What customers report
Trustpilot shows 4.5 out of 5 from 100 reviews on a profile claimed in December 2025, with about 75% five-star, 11% four-star, 2% three-star, 4% two-star and 8% one-star. Trustpilot notes that the company has no recent history of asking for reviews, replied to 20% of negative reviews and typically takes over a month to reply. An AI summary on that page says reviewers praise comfort and responsive support, while some mention Bluetooth connection problems and charging-case or battery performance falling short.

The Beyond Pro page on the store shows 4.72 out of 5 from 454 reviews. Those are the brand's own widget, so we treat them as a signal and not as independent proof.
Best sellers

ELEHEAR Beyond Pro
The home page labels the Beyond Pro "Most Powerful" at $599 per pair, down from $649, and the product page shows the dry-box bundle at $631. The page lists VOCCLEAR 2.0, an extended 125 Hz to 8500 Hz range, Bluetooth 5.3 streaming, real-time translation in 20 languages, tinnitus sounds, up to 20 hours per charge and 6 hours from 15 minutes of charging. HearingTracker lists it at $599 and says it is among the best OTC aids it has tested for value.
ELEHEAR Beyond
The earlier Beyond is labeled "Best Value" on the home page at $399, down from $449. Reviewed and Soundly tested it, and its feature list covers AI noise reduction, Bluetooth streaming and an app with tinnitus sounds. HearingTracker's own comparison found the Beyond Pro improved speech in noise over it, but the lower price makes it the cheaper way into the range.
Trial, shipping and warranty

- Trial. 45 days from receipt, recommended as at least three weeks of use. The refund is the purchase price minus shipping fees, discounts or coupons, applies once per device model and requires all accessories and the return within 7 days of receiving the label.
- Return costs. ELEHEAR covers return shipping inside the trial, but you are responsible for loss or damage on the way back. Refunds to a different card carry a $20 fee, and a change of delivery address in transit can cost $50.
- Shipping. Free on US orders, dispatch within 48 hours of order confirmation, 5 to 7 business days after dispatch, no PO boxes and US addresses only unless you contact support. Damage should be reported within 24 hours.
- Warranty. One year. A replacement set is sent if a fault is found, but you pay return shipping, and repair costs if no fault is found.
The brand's own claims
The home page says FDA Registered and attributes dementia statistics to the Lancet and Johns Hopkins, including a 61% reduction in dementia risk when hearing loss is treated. We could not verify that figure. The FDA's own wording is softer: hearing aids "may reduce the frequency or severity of cognitive decline, depression, and other health problems". The FDA also warns that statements such as "FDA Registered" on OTC hearing aid labeling may be misleading, so we do not treat that phrase as a quality mark.
Buying advice
Get a hearing test or speak to a professional first if you can, particularly with any red-flag symptom. If you buy, use the full trial, set the aids in the app, use the remote audiologist service and compare quiet and noisy places. Keep the packaging, because the refund requires all accessories.

Two models worth a look
The Beyond Pro is the model with the strongest independent evidence. The Beyond is the lower-priced earlier model that critics also tested. Prices are elehear.com home page prices on 14 Oct 2026.
| Product | Price | What it offers | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beyond Pro | $599 per pair | VOCCLEAR 2.0, 125 to 8500 Hz, Bluetooth 5.3, tinnitus sounds, AI translation, up to 20 hours per charge | HearAdvisor A grade, SoundScore 4.8/5; HearingTracker 4.4/5; store 4.72 from 454 reviews; IPX5 |
| Beyond | $399 per pair | AI noise reduction, Bluetooth streaming, app, tinnitus sounds, 125 to 7000 Hz per Reviewed | Reviewed (May 2025) liked value and battery, noted large shells and domes slipping; Soundly called it well-rounded under $500 |
If the budget allows, the Beyond Pro has the better evidence behind it. If the budget is tight, the Beyond is the lower-cost entry, with the same trial terms.

A well-tested OTC option, bought as a trial and not as a medical decision
ELEHEAR has more independent evidence than most OTC brands, including a lab result and several hands-on reviews, a 45-day trial and strong Trustpilot ratings. The Beyond Pro looks like a sound choice in its price class for the people the category is meant for.
The limits are the category itself, remote-only fitting support, a refund that excludes some amounts and a one-year warranty with shipping costs. Treat it as a trial of a device for mild to moderate loss, and get a hearing test or see a professional if you are unsure or have red-flag symptoms.
Consider it if you
- You are 18 or over and have perceived mild to moderate hearing loss
- You are happy to adjust settings through an app and use remote support
- You will use the whole 45-day trial before deciding
Skip it if you
- You suspect severe loss or have any FDA red-flag symptom
- You want in-person fitting and verification
- You need a warranty that covers return shipping
