HOZO Design Maker & DIY tools
A maker-tool brand whose NeoBlade cutter earned a 7.5/10 from CGMagazine and whose laser level was tested by The Gadgeteer, with a small Trustpilot base and a 25% restocking fee on returns that are not in original condition.

Well-tested maker tools from a small brand, with a strict return rule
HOZO Design sells maker and DIY tools through hozodesign.com: the NeoBlade wireless ultrasonic cutter, the NeoSander detail sander, the M-Cube laser level and measuring range and the NeoRuler digital ruler. It lists a company registered in Hong Kong with a Trustpilot profile that gives China as the location.
The strongest evidence is independent. CGMagazine scored the NeoBlade 7.5 out of 10 in August 2026 and called it a fast, well-built tool for finishing 3D prints, while The Gadgeteer found it cut paper, cardboard and wood well but melted plastic. The Gadgeteer also tested the M-Cube 02 laser level and liked how it held to a textured wall. Customer evidence is thinner: the store shows 4.83 out of 5 from 123 NeoBlade reviews, but Trustpilot shows 3.8 from 17 reviews, with some complaints about delivery and a scam accusation. Returns are accepted for 14 days with a 25% restocking fee if the item is not in original condition.
Right for
- Makers, model builders and 3D-print owners who trim resin, foam, cardboard, leather or thin wood
- DIYers who want a self-sticking laser level for shelves and picture walls
- Buyers who want to read independent reviews before paying a premium for a specialised tool
Wrong for
- Anyone whose main job is cutting thick plastic, where reviewers saw melting
- Buyers who want a large Trustpilot base before ordering from a direct-to-consumer brand
- Shoppers who may want to try a tool and return it used without a fee
+What it gets right
- Independent coverage. CGMagazine (7.5/10) and The Gadgeteer both tested the NeoBlade, and The Gadgeteer also tested the M-Cube 02.
- Specs that match. The 40,000 Hz, 9 W to 40 W and 224 by 33 by 26 mm figures on the store appear in the outlets' own spec lists.
- Support praised. Several recent Trustpilot reviews thank named support staff, including a charging fix on a second-hand NeoBlade and a replacement for a faulty M-Cube.
- Clear warranty. One year from purchase on new products bought from the official store, with exclusions written out.
- Wide accessory range. Blades, cutting mats, batteries and a charging dock are sold in the same store.
−Where it slips
- Plastic melts. Both The Gadgeteer and CGMagazine saw plastic soften or re-melt, which matters for 3D-print clean-up.
- Battery life. CGMagazine called battery life its biggest frustration, at about 30 minutes per pack.
- Thin Trustpilot base. 17 reviews, 3.8 out of 5, with four 1-star reviews (23%) including a scam accusation and a stalled parcel.
- Restocking fee. 25% plus lost-accessory fees if a return is not in original condition.
- Warranty limits. It excludes accessories, commercial use and second-hand units, and is not transferable.
- Frequent discounts. The store runs permanent sale banners, so list prices are not a reliable guide to value.
Weighted for independent testing, customer feedback and how problems are handled
Independent tests and customer feedback carry the most weight for a tool brand. This is a desk-research score: we have not bought or used HOZO tools ourselves.
The long version
What HOZO sells, what reviewers who handled the products found and what the store's terms and customer feedback look like.
What HOZO Design is
HOZO Design sells maker and DIY tools direct from hozodesign.com. The range is built around a few product families: the NeoBlade ultrasonic cutter, the NeoSander and NeoBlock sanders, the M-Cube laser level and measuring modules, and the NeoRuler and NeoRulerGO digital rulers. The footer lists a Hong Kong business registration and the store accepts cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay. It runs a standing sale banner, which on 14 Oct 2026 was a Halloween promotion of up to 25% off.

What reviewers who used the tools found
NeoBlade. CGMagazine's Brendan Frye gave it 7.5 out of 10 in August 2026, calling it "a fast, well-built tool for finishing 3D prints, model work and precise cuts". He found it best for resin prints, supports, foam, cardboard, leather and thin wood, and said it runs hot, can be noisy and costs more than a basic hobby knife. His biggest frustration was battery life of about 30 minutes per pack. The Gadgeteer's Matt Gregersen, who reviewed the Creator Combo in November 2025, found it cut paper, cardboard and wood "like butter" and that the casing stayed cool, but plastic melted more than it cut and cut pieces sometimes re-fused.
M-Cube 02. The Gadgeteer's review of the M-Cube 02 Pro in May 2025 describes calibration taking seconds in the app and the vacuum mount holding to a semigloss textured wall once the dial was pressed hard enough. The reviewer wanted a tripod plate. The unit was supplied free by HOZO, and the review states the brand did not preview it.

The two products we looked at
The NeoBlade page shows 4.83 out of 5 from 123 reviews, "200+ sold in past 30 days" and a 10% sale price of $134.10 against a $149 list price. Its listed specs are a 40,000 Hz transducer, 9 W to 40 W adaptive power, a 13,000 rpm cooling fan, and SK5 high-carbon steel blades.

The M-Cube 02 Pro page shows 4.94 out of 5 from 36 reviews, with 34 five-star and 2 four-star. HOZO lists 0.1 degree accuracy, a 2600 mAh battery with 12 hours of continuous use and a 10 m remote range through the app. We have not tested the accuracy claim, and no independent accuracy test is cited in the coverage we read.
What customers say
Trustpilot shows HOZO at 3.8 out of 5 from 17 reviews on 14 Oct 2026: 53% five-star, 18% four-star, 6% two-star and 23% one-star. Trustpilot labels the profile as inviting reviews and as not having replied to negative reviews, and notes it does not fact-check reviews. Recent positive reviews praise support staff, including one that fixed a charging fault on a second-hand NeoBlade and one that replaced a unit shipped with a faulty gyroscope. Negative reviews include a scam accusation from August 2026 and a June 2026 complaint of a parcel that stopped tracking despite paid insurance. With only 17 reviews this is a thin sample.

Returns, warranty and shipping
Products can be returned within 14 days of receipt if bought from the official store. The customer must return them in perfect state with all accessories, otherwise a 25% restocking fee and fees for lost accessories apply. The warranty is one year from the purchase date for new products bought from the official store. It is non-transferable and excludes accessories, second-hand units, commercial use, misuse and tampering.

Orders are processed in 1 to 3 business days. US standard shipping takes 5 to 8 business days, costs $12 under $180 and is free above that. Expedited shipping starts from $15. The store also shows tracking updates can take up to three business days to appear.

Verdict
HOZO makes specialised tools that two independent outlets tested and mostly liked, at prices well above a basic hobby knife or bubble level. It suits a maker who knows the jobs a tool does well. Treat the store ratings as the brand's own evidence, keep the box for the 14-day window and expect the cutter to melt some plastics.

How this review was put together
This is a desk-research review. We have not bought or used HOZO tools. Product details, prices (USD, US storefront), shipping, return and warranty terms come from hozodesign.com (checked 14 Oct 2026). Independent coverage is CGMagazine's NeoBlade review by Brendan Frye (15 Aug 2026, 7.5/10), The Gadgeteer's NeoBlade review (5 Nov 2025, Creator Combo, unit sent to the reviewer) and The Gadgeteer's M-Cube 02 Pro review (May 2025, sample supplied free by HOZO).
